Although Paris has many large mainstream cinemas, it still has a reputation of screening art house and avent gaurde movies at quirky little movie houses. Movies are popular in Paris with over 300 screenings of movies in an average week.

Cinematheque Francaise
This is a good one for the serious movie goer. There are many different movie genres screened over the week and is considered to be Paris's number one movie venue. 51 rue de Bercy 12 (02 7119 3333).

Forum des Images
This unusual venue allows you to watch any movie all day with the one ticket purchase. You will be sure to see a different, strange or obscure movie here. Forum des Halles (01 4476 6200).

Shows all the blockbuster and mainstream movies in a 400 seated theatre. 30 Av. Corentin-Cariou (08 9268 4540).

Grand Rex
This is the largest cinema in Europe, seating 2,800 patrons. 1 bd poissonniere 2nd (08 9268 0596).

Max Linder Panorama
This modern cinema in an old building, seats 600 and has and 18metre wide screen. 24 bd Poissonniere 9th (08 9268 0031).

Saint-Andre-des- Arts
